GEMS Empowered Inc. debuted in 2011, providing homebuyer education for aspiring homeowners in Lee County, AL.  GEMS achieved many early successes including facilitating the Opelika Dream Down payment Assistance Program in partnership with the City of Opelika.  In 2012, GEMS Empowered Inc. founded and remains an official sponsor of the Opelika Juneteenth Celebration. 

 GEMS Empowered Inc. is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to the mission of creating healthier, wealthier families and communities. GEMS is an acronym for Global Economic Mind Shift. We aim to counteract a poverty mindset through initiatives in affordable housing, financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and youth leadership development.
